maybe i am not so boring
i think it’s time for me to revisit my definition of boring.
really, i spend a lot of time thinking i might just be the most boring person on the face of the planet. this fact was recently reinforced when i realized i have read 14 books in the past four months.
but then i was chatting with one of my e-crushes (a delightful orange haired fellow-backwash columnist) and he’s got me to thinking.
see, i don’t do much. i don’t go out drinking, i don’t travel, i don’t date (not for lack of wanting to, but for lack of those willing to). i work, i read books, i write. doesn’t seem all that exciting.
i’ve always defined boring as what you do and not what you think. but spoony made the claim that a lot of people are so busy doing stuff that they don’t even think about it. they don’t reflect upon what they do, so while what they do might not be boring, what they think is.
i am not a boring thinker. things are always racing around in this crazy head of mine. i suppose there really must be a balance. i think i need to work on that. that balance thing.

jodi, i don’t think you’re boring at all.

02 Dec 01 at 10:45 pm #2nd vote for travel… even if it’s just a roadtrip to the grand canyon or something, it’s really fun to do.
BTW I would wait till the work sitch is a bit more settled, too.
02 Dec 01 at 11:51 pm #Hey Jodi, you are not boring at all! You are so interesting that I actually linked you! *gasps* hehe. Welp, why don’t you hang around NOT in bars but cafes, writing poetry and reading. I deliteful match may come your way. Or just go to barnesandnoble to find a match- many of the people in the magazine and literature section are there mainly for that reason anyway!
smile and be happy!
03 Dec 01 at 7:48 pm #jodi, if you travel to the grand canyon, I propose you hop on I-80, go west, say high to a certain person in SLC, then head south to the grand canyon. just a suggestion.
you aren’t boring though. spoony is a fount of wisdom. if you want to see boring, go read my blog. guh. I wouldn’t even read that crap if it weren’t mine.
04 Dec 01 at 9:46 pm #perhaps some psychedelic ventures may help you break from your own inner turmoil on the subject…(that is if you are open-minded enough to consider that as an option, or if that appeals to you)…this may give you the psychological freedom to travel without venturing out, a chance to really sit down with yourself and contemplate that balance that you speak of……… - just a a though.
