here, let’s file this away as one of my most embarassing (more embarrassing then the time i pulled the bra out of my backpack while trying to pay at the gas station) moments of my life. . .

i was checking the mail in the lobby of my apartment building. i was just getting home from work so i had a handful of stuff already. i popped open the mailbox and much to my delight and surprise, it was stuffed! i love overflowing mailboxes during the holidays.

my mailbox is roughly the size of a small shoe box. it’s an apartment building, so you can imagine how dinky the mailboxes are.

there’s a cd jammed in there, plus mail and other stuff. as i am fighting to get the cd out, a cute pizzaguy comes in. he sees me wrestling with the mail and offers to help.

wahoo! i think a nice, gallant pizzaguy to the rescue.

so he starts pulling mail out of my mailbox. he hands me the cd, some envelopes and then he says there’s another box in the there.

yippee! i think, because i am a greedy pig, more stuff for me!

so pizzaguy is wrestling with the mail– one arm holding the pizzas and one arm in the mailbox. he’s yanking and pulling when out pops the box.

wahoo!

only it’s not cause for wahooing, because his face turns bright red as he hands it to me.

it’s a baby blue and pink box. . . and on the top it says, “always, maximum protection, 2 pads.”

yeah. we were both silent as i opened the door and he trudged off to deliver his pizza and i hustled into my apartment.
