smug self-satisfaction

nothing gives me a greater sense of smug self-satisfaction then finding the perfect gift for someone you thought would be impossible to buy for.

in other news, i am a weak, weak card-buying junkie. after all the card-buying hooha of last weekend, i went out and bought MORE cards. so, if i don’t have your address, send it to me.

You know what I like the most about Juliana Hatfield's Book Notes essay? Not only does she list a Wilson Phillips song and talk of how much she and Evan Dando loved their album, but she disses their lyrical grammar. It's more awesomeness than the law should allow. I haven't read her memoir yet, but I so hope it has an extended chapter about her role as the angel on "My So-Called Life." [+]
