you can read assignment #2 over on backwash now. actually, i’m not too appalled with how it turned out.

PS. I’ll be lurking about the On Writers, Writing & Books chatroom around 9 p.m. EST tonight if you want to stop by and discuss books and writing and movies and the color of the sky at noon or my apparent and alarming breast fetish.

    I have three books “in the can” (know any publishers?) and in two of the cases, I took the life story of a historical person and wrote “myself” into it. This is easy because you’re given a plot, characters, dates, etc., all “you” have to do is react and write it down.

    I have an idea I think would make an interesting fiction, and you are welcome to it. My friend Julia & I recently took a trip together, and I noticed that we have exactly the same digital cameras. They look exactly alike.

    So my though was, what IF you got home from vacation, but instead of family pics, you happen to hold a camera that captures, oh, say, a MURDER? And you know that the murderer has pics of YOUR FAMILY, your house, your car, etc. and s/he knows that you have her/his camera…..?

    I’m never gonna write that down, I’m working on another historical piece. ;~}

    As far as places that would make a great short story, how about an old, rundown tattoo parlor? Think of the fodder for your writing! Drug dealers, bikers, goth ethusiasts, maybe even a soccer mom trying to be “daring”.

    That or maybe the tale of someone who has served someone else; Overlooked and overshadowed by someone who gets all the attention, his chance finally comes when the popular hero fails, leaving the mantle to fall on the quiet one. The one no one thought could succeed.

    Then again, maybe that was the story -I- wanted to write…
