ban comic sans (please)

i’m a font junkie. i have been since my college newspaper days. i could look at and play with fonts all day long. being a font junkie means that you have some definite likes (lots of larabie stuff, chank, veer) and dislikes. the font i despise the most is Comic Sans. i hate it. it makes me want to puke (have you ever read Bailey White’s Quite a Year for Plums? Because i’m feeling a little bit like the impassioned typographer here). anyway i just stumbled upon Ban Comic Sans. Now this, this is a cause i can get behind.

I need to get some of that propaganda and put it up around the office. Some people around here actually send important documents to clients in comic cans.

It’s not a favorite but I don’t want to take it into a back alley and hurt it. That’s reserved for something like verdana or ding-bats.

I find Verdana sort of boring like vanilla ice cream. Maybe I am just being a lunatic….who knows?

I love Comic Sans. But only for what it’s good for. Office memos are either Times New Roman or Arial if I’m feeling jaunty. Comic Sans is a terrific font for creating images. (which I do.)

Personally I don’t understand the problem.

Things I Want to Tell You

Can't stop listening to "Who Were You Were Thinking Of" by Jeff Tweedy. Sing it with me, "who were you thinking of when we were making love last night? Was it a good-looking stranger or a close friend of mine. . ." [+]

You would think that if they were getting straight As they'd know the damn difference between loose and lose. GAH! [+]

Yeah, I know there are problems with the comments timing out and giving an error message. I'm working on it. Never fear, the comment is still posting, it's just being really annoying in the process. I hope to have this fixed ASAP. I believe it's fixed. If there is still a problem, it's probably your fault and not mine. Kidding. Kinda. [+]
