wearing a face that she keeps in a jar by the door
i’m working from home today. generally this means sitting around in pajama-like clothing with unbrushed hair eating pancakes. today, this is not the case at all. today i had to get dressed and brush my hair. i did however, just eat some delicious peanut butter pancakes so the day isn’t totally wasted. but i had to get dressed because i’m waiting for my boyfriend Douglas to arrive. i have to admit i’m more than a little excited. i love douglas and whenever i have the chance to get him in my hot little hands, i get a little goofy.
douglas coupland is easily on the top 10 list of writers that i adore (along with, in case you care, John Irving, Jeanette Winterson, Dennis Johnson, Raymond Carver, Aimee Bender, Amy Bloom, Kurt Vonnegut, Philip Roth, and me), so a new book from him is always a cause for celebration at Supergenius Headquarters. of course this is throwing the not-yet-mentioned reading plan right out the door, but you know, it’s douglas. what can a girl do?
