ugh. i just read on my westernerd message board that Alex Chilton of Big Star is missing in New Orleans:

” Alex Chilton, 54, the rock singer and guitarist, was listed Thursday on the missing-persons page of the Times-Picayune’s Web site. He had stayed in New Orleans during the storm, said a spokeswoman for his record label, Rykodisc, and has not been heard from since.”

as if i wasn’t weepy enough after listening to the radio interview with Ray Nagin, the mayor of New Orleans. i think i will go put “Thirteen” and “September Gurls” on repeat.
