there’s a scene in Toni Morrison’s The Bluest Eye where Pecola Breedlove goes to stay with Claudia’s family. while she’s there Pecola drinks like a gallon of milk, which pisses off Claudia’s mom. Pecola drinks so much milk because she’s totally and utterly enamoured with the Shirley Temple cup.
that’s me! i am so in love with my 89.3 The Current mug (incidentally, Megan, i think the only way you can get one is by contributing) that i’ve had two cups of tea already today! i am starting to feel a bit sloshy, which means i’ll have to pass the day just sending schmoopy-eyed looks at my mug rather than actually using it.
