Kathleen Turner Overdrive has brought to my attention the fact that we are woefully lacking in really loud Kiss songs (or is it KISS? Knights in Satan’s Service right, or is that just urban legend?) We’re currently rocking Heaven’s on Fire on this cloudy, sleepy Tuesday morning. But that’s all we got. After that it’s back to the same old unrocking stuff we always listen to. Some more KISS is order. But, really what songs rock the hardest? On behalf of Kathleen Turner Overdrive, I throw myself at the feet of your heavy metal knowledge, darling ones. Which KISS songs rock the hardest and therefore deserve to live on KTO?

    Early stuff,
Strutter, Deuce, Firehouse, Black Diamond (replacements cover) basically aything off KISS Alive.

  2. Keith has it right on, early stuff. Anything post make-up removal, including the following reapplication of make-up phase, is total crap. It’s the equivalent to Van Halen post David Lee Roth. It’s just sick and wrong.

Heavens on Fire is post make-up and must be deleted.

I’m totally sending you a copy of Double Platinum. Yeah, it’s a “best of” but it has all the great ones. If you like live stuff, “Alive II” is one of the best ever.

I second the recommendation of Double Platinum. Calling Dr. Love and Cold Gin are highly recommended.

  5. I second wolfdog with Cold Gin. I think my favorite all-time Kiss song is Cold Gin.

And, don’t forget everyone’s favorite song that romaticizes statutory rape:
    Domino

One of my all time favorite songs is Beth. I know most die-hards hate that song. I also like “Tears Are Fallin’” and “I Was Made For Lovin’ You”.
Most of the other songs are overplayed. Oh, and I like Peter Criss singing “Hard Luck Woman”.

NBFB, don’t forget about “Christine Sixteen”…Gene Simmons could be kinda creepy.

That said, I have begun repurchasing my long lost KISS collection and find their stuff generally funkier/groovier/campier than I remember as an awestruck 11-year-old.

Oh, yeah, we’re supposed to recommend songs…sorry, Jodi (and happy belated birthday). My favorites are some of the Ace Frehley-penned songs, like “Cold Gin,” “Shock Me,” “Rocket Ride”.

Rump-shakers like “Strutter” and “Makin’ Love” are great, too.

ok so, my first two record albums that I EVER owned were Kiss: Love Gun and Destroyer.

From Destroyer: Detroit Rock City, Shout It Out Loud, and Do You Love Me?

From Love Gun: Christine Sixteen, Plaster Caster, and Then She Kissed Me.

I have not heard any of those albums since I was a kid however. I loved them to death at the time, but half of it was just the costumes and album covers ;D
