Jodeo conquers Odeo

Okay, so now FFJ and I have a real live podcast and not just a giant MP3. I used Odeo and it was generally super easy. It’s weird, to have my voice out there on the internet for all the world to hear. I feel kind of naked and vulnerable.

Things are not going well today in the land of the Supergenius. I’m not quite sure what my damage is today, but there are hate rays radiating from my eyes at any hapless human who has the misfortune of crossing my path. Except for FFJ who just told me that I “rickety rock the cashbar.” [...]

2000 tingly parts

This post by Mike Doughty makes me tingly in all of my 2000 parts.

“You know what my favorite song is?” Max asked Sister #2. She had come over to pick up her children. I had been babysitting for like an hour.
“Life is a highway, I wanna ride it all night long?” Sister #2 sang. For the last few weeks, after seeing “Cars,” this had been Max’s favorite song.
“No,” [...]

• I have decided that one of my new superpowers will be the ability to make my enemies randomly puke cherry pits ala “Witches of Eastwick” whenever I eat cherries. Somewhere in the Midwest two men are puking cherries and they have no idea why. It’s me.
• El Debarge, KISS, and Motley Crue = all [...]

Kathleen Turner Overdrive has brought to my attention the fact that we are woefully lacking in really loud Kiss songs (or is it KISS? Knights in Satan’s Service right, or is that just urban legend?) We’re currently rocking Heaven’s on Fire on this cloudy, sleepy Tuesday morning. But that’s all we got. After that it’s [...]

Yeah, I’m totally fucked. And not in a good way. It’s after midnight as I write this. I have a meeting in just under 8 hours, and the sleep is nowhere to be found. I think the sleep is staying away since I wasted most of today in a crabby-faced funk not speaking to anyone. [...]

Today is my friend Kelly’s 30th birthday. I envy her the magic of turning 30. Without a doubt, my 30s have been the best decade of my life. Of course, when I was in my 20s I probably would have said the same thing. But when I look back I realize I was entirely [...]

RIP Smurphy Brown

Okay, so that sucked. After waiting the longest 30 minutes to ever happen and then adding an additional 25 minutes just to make the wait extra excruciating, Sister #4 had to put little Murphy to sleep. It sucked. It super sucked. Being in the room and trying to say goodbye, it took all my energy [...]

Smurphy Brown, Sister #4’s cat is sick. I came out of my New Castle-induced hangover haze long enough on Wednesday to notice that I hadn’t seen Murphy at all. This was quite unusual because Murphy is the most annoying cat ever. Usually he’s climbing all over my keyboard when I’m at my desk, wrapping himself [...]

I spoil myself rotten. I am not very good with NO! Especially when it comes to catering to every single one of my whims, which is why I often spend Sundays in a reading, practicing, and napping — usually many times throughout the day.
Today, I am trying to show a modicum of self-restraint. It’s not [...]

FFJ and I have our very own podcast now. It’s called Bookclub Bitches, and for the BB Vol. 1 we read and discussed Fahrenheit 451

Here’s the thing about Bob Dylan. You can just be minding your own business with background music pumping out of Kathleen Turner Overdrive, editing some propaganda, and then next thing you know he’s decimated you, when you least expect it.
I was hardly even paying attention to the song, it’s one of those 7-minuters that [...]
