weakerthansreuniontour

Yes, The Weakerthans’ new album Reunion Tour is solid. You should go buy it right now and listen to it. If this Weakerthans’ dude’s voice doesn’t win you over immediately, his lyrics will. Trust me on this one, I would never lead you down the wrong musical path.

In other news, I submitted my story “Imaginary Boyfriend” to One Story this week. I am eagerly awaiting my very first rejection letter. Once I have the slip of paper in my hot little hands I’ll be a real, struggling writer. Until then I am only a struggling writer wannabe. And much like Pinocchio, I long to be real.

You know, I was just going to write about how I can’t wait until life simmers down a bit so I can spend some more time writing but then I realized that I just spent roughly 10 minutes reading Sex in the City spoilers. Which just proves that I am totally full of shit. God, what is my problem?

  1. The band’s songwriting often gets compared to Raymond Carver. That’s a bit of a reach, but this album is one of the year’s best as far as I am concerned.

    Listening to it now…

    Your taste is impeccable.

Speaking of Raymond Carver-influenced songwriting: yeah, I like the Weakerthans but I prefer the similar-yet-better Richmond Fontaine. You will, too. Give ‘em a listen.

  4. Richmond Fontaine’s Willy Vlautin is a talented author as well, his novel THE MOTEL LIFE is definitely worth picking up.
