“I need a new check card.”
“Was your card lost or stolen?” The friendly US Bank customer service rep said.
“No.”
“. . . ”
“See I got a new one because the old one expires next month.”
“The new one was sent to your house?” she asked.
“Yes,” I said. “I, uh, accidentally cut it up and threw it away.”

Much laughter.

I cannot be the only person in the history of US Band to have cut up and threw away their brand-new check card. Can I?

I blame the credit card companies. It seems that since I don’t generally use my credit cards they seem to need to send me a new one every 10 minutes. Which makes cutting up my check card perfectly logical.

  1. Yes! A funny, unboring story in which the questions “Why is the story being told by this person? At this time?” are crystal clear. Thank you for restoring my faith in stories about customer service. And a chuckle as well.
