I got lost in reverie listening to a slow, swingy song called “Shut Up and Sway Your Hips.” Once again I am back to being a Nablmo cheater. I got lost in a daydream about one of those men who disappeared with nary an excuse or a you’re just not for me. Oddly enough he reads iwilldare.com every single day and yet my e-mails have gone unanswered. Well they did go unanswered, I gave up a year or so ago.

Perhaps the men who have semi-disappeared from my life don’t subscribe to the Husker Du, “Don’t Want to Know if You Are Lonely” method of getting rid of former lovers.

It puzzles me. If they wanted me out of their lives, why do they constantly check up on me?

  1. I think that checking up to see if someone’s lonely is morose, but I have to admit I’ve checked up on some former girlfriends to see if they’re alright. I’d like to know that they were able to move on and are in a better place now. Every girlfriend has a place in my heart, and I wish them nothing but the best (except for maybe one ex-wife, but even then, I’d rather she square her life away than continue to screw up).

  2. I am all for the occasional check-in. I think that’s why Google was invented. It’s the every day consistent need to know that puzzles me.

Hey, I check on you every day - sometimes multiple times a day.

Oh, wait. You’re talking about actual meat people.

  4. Yes, I am. Also, you leave comments, respond to e-mail, and all that good stuff. Plus you’ve never seen me naked.
