Career suggestions from my well-meaning and totally adorable coworkers
Since we all found out we’re getting the boot, my co-workers have been trying to help me decide on a career course. I love them for their eagerness and helpfulness and complete lack of any idea about the writing and publishing world. Here are the suggestions so far:
- Self-published author: “You could just print your book using that Lulu and sell it on the web.”
- Screenwriter: “You need to get yourself to Hollywood, with all the writers on strike you could totally get in.”
- Freelance Copywriter: “Oh please you can freelance and get in on all the ching ching and bling bling.”
- MacArthur Genius Grant Recipient: “All I need to do is write a book and do some stuff and then I will totally win it.”
Yeah, that last one was totally my idea.
