Goals for the day: To not lose my shit, register for my writing class, figure it all out.

Well, I finally figured out how to make a good cup of coffee. At least I think I have. This might just be the best thing that happens today. We’ll see if I can duplicate this magic tomorrow.

Of course the coffee is not helping my jumpy stomach at all. Today was the day I was supposed to figure it all out, and decide what I want to do with my career. Last week when Christmas vacation started, Peabo told me to put the job woes on the shelf for a week. Because she is smart, I listened to her.

A week was up today, so I decided to dip my toe in the help-wanted waters. I promptly ran screaming back for the unemployment shores. It’s scary and cold out there.

But here’s the thing that I realized. I want to freelance. The only way I’ll chain myself back to a 9-5 desk is if I get a job with one of my co-workers. A few of them are exploring some exciting opportunities, and I’d totally jump at the chance to work with any of them again.

But if I have to go it alone, I want to go it my way.

It might not seem like it, but this is a huge decision. HUGE. Now I just have to figure out what all this means and how I go about making enough money to pay the mortgage.

Hooey. I’m exhausted already and I haven’t even left the La-Z-Grrl.

  3. I love that we had meltdowns on the same day. Really, it’s a little eerie.
I firmly applaud your decision to freelance. You emailed Dale immediately, right? With an expert in your pocket it’ll be a lot easier for you than for most people. Irregardless (couldn’t resist), even if you need supplemental income to freelancing there are lots of places you can work that aren’t office jobs.
