Bookclub Bitches 10: Persepolis a book I want to make love to

For the March edition of Bookclub Bitches FFJ and I read Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi. We actually read both Persepolis and Persepolis 2. I don’t see how one could read the first one and not want to read the second one immediately.

To say that I loved this graphic memoir is like damning it with faint praise. Mere words cannot convey how very much I enjoyed reading Satrapi’s memoir. I loved it so much that the day I finished reading it, I packed it up and loaned it to Sister #2 so she could read it right away. It’s really that good. It’s one of those books that I think every 30something woman should read. Today.

Me, too… did you read all three books in the series? Also, “Chicken and Plums” is worth reading.

By teh way, check out Jeff Gordinier’s last music selection on his playlist today for “X Saves the World” at LHB.

I didn’t know there were three! What’s the third one? Also is X Saves the World good? I read some stuff about it and it sounds good.

Embroideries is the slim third volume in the series.

I found X Saves the World pretty entertaining, and it was a quick read. I’ll send a copy your way (I rarely keep nonfiction around other than cookbooks and art volumes).

I saw the movie (based on the first two books) and loved it - what an experience. Can’t wait to read them, too.

I absolutely loved this book. I’m really looking forward to seeing the movie. Even though I haven’t seen the movie yet I was really disappointed that it didn’t win the best animated oscar. Why do they give the documentary/foreign oscars to war/holocaust movies but the best animated movie must go to the best kids movie. (and I like Brad Bird)
