On making out and Blue Oyster Cult
If we had a nickel for how many times I’ve randomly shouted (both outloud and in my head) “Time to play B sides, time ain’t on my side, time I’ll never know” we could all go out for ice cream on me.
I suppose if you’re gonna have a Blue Oyster Cult song stuck in your head for all eternity, “Burnin’ For You” is the way to go. But still and all, it’s kind of driving me nuts.
Everything is kind of driving me nuts today. I’m a giant, 6′5″ mountain of anxiety and nervous energy. It’s probably because Mentor Series submissions are due tomorrow, and I’m handing mine in tonight. Or it could be because I had a very realistic dream about making out with someone in the kitchen. It’s someone I know who is going to remain nameless to protect my tender psyche.
The dream has wigged me right the hell out because every time I close my eyes, if even to blink, that image of the kissing in the kitchen is there. No amount of BoC seems to get rid of the image. The dream is bugging me and I don’t know why. It also involved donuts and karaoke and beaches, and not, sadly, Blue Oyster Cult. This might be my brain’s way of begging me to find something to occupy it.

17 Apr 08 at 9:58 pm #I suppose we all can have different motivations for writing short stories, but what you are experiencing with the dream that cannot be shaken, is precisely why I write quote fiction unquote.
I suggest you turn off the editor, tap into it for an hour and see where that ride goes. Then fold it up for a half day before you turn the editor back on and decide if you can show it to anyone. Remember writing rules are made to be broken, wisely, and in editing, not first drafts. TCBB–Mike
