Literature Map — your favorite waste of time for the next 10 minutes
Largehearted Boy linked to the Literature Map a few days ago. I’ve been playing with it for the last 10 minutes. It’s a lot of fun. And because I am kind and considerate I did a lot of the work for you:
- George Saunders (looks like I need to read some Coover and Barthleme)
- Denis Johnson (I love that Lester Bangs shows up on his map)
- Mary Gaitskill (I am surprised by the number of people I’ve never heard of who turn up on this map)
- Aimee Bender (it tickles me that Amy Bloom is so close)
- Charles D’Ambrosio (this map is surprisingly sparse and includes a two authors I really don’t care for)
- Douglas Coupland (who is too close to Nick Hornby for my comfort)
- Lorrie Moore (who might have the best map)
See what you might be missing
