This is circa 9 a.m. this morning. The snow plows still haven’t come through to dig me out. And the view from my garage looks a bit like this:

Of course, I am not budging. Not that I could budge if I wanted to. It’d take me hours to shovel all that snow, and there’s no [...]

If you’ve never sat naked on your bed talking to your boss on the phone, I don’t recommend it. It’s just weird.
I woke up this morning to the sound of my neighbor shoveling his driveway. Unlike last time I heard the shoveling, I didn’t think of writing and masturbation. Instead, in my semi-sleeping [...]

Princess Jaycie and I have to go downtown to Al, the cutest girl on earth’s™ studio tomorrow. We’re working on a super secret project. As I type it’s rainy-snowing out and my stomach hurts. I’ve got all kinds of anxiety when it comes to driving in the winter.
My phobia started when Sister #2’s best [...]

snow day part II

so yeah 4 inches mean ruby’s staying in the garage and i’ll be reporting to work live from the comfy green chair clad in my plaid pajama pants. and the best part of all? dawson’s creek is on the tv. i love snow days!
p.s. it’s the episode where the capeside crew go to a rave [...]

my bushes have been turned into cottonballs.

and you can’t even see any tracks in the road in front of my house. obviously i am working from home.

it is with equal parts awe and glee that i read about the snow hitting the east coast. awe because storms are just awesome, even when they happen to you. glee, because it’s not happening to me.
i have, however, decided if something doesn’t happen to me soon i’ll probably just die of total apathy and [...]

no snow day for jodi

despite the snowing, i came into work. there wasn’t a lot of snow, not enough snow worthy of not coming in, when i left for work. and since i didn’t want to be known as the slackery wonderwuss, i came in. i’m beginning to wonder why. . . the office is like a ghost town [...]

praying for snow

i keep crossing across the living room to peek out the patio door. i’m waiting for it to start snowing. we’re supposed to have a great gob of snow falling here in the not too distant future. i’m hoping for gobs and gobs of snow, so i can work from home claiming “bad roads” were [...]

tonight i got to play grumpy tech support person for sister #3. seems her computer was knocked up by some sort of something that caused it to produce copious amounts of annoying pop-up windows advertising gay porn. since i am a good sister and since i’m going to need an oil change in about a [...]

i just got home from work. please note that it’s a friday and i am home and it’s not even 7:30 p.m. the weather is so bad that bowling was cancelled. there’s about six inches of snow on the ground now. the fact that MPR kept saying over and over that this is the latest [...]

commuter hell

like wendy, it took me for fucking ever to get to work. it also took me forever to get home. but i’m home now, safe and snug– and i don’t plan on dealing with this weather nonsense until the morning.
you know, i love minnesota and all. i really do, but i’d rather have the [...]

holy shit have i had a day. i am beat, bushed, and bemused. most of which i blame on the awful weather and the equally awful road conditions. i took 35W home. usually i do 80 on 35W and arrive home a mere 30 minutes after i leave my desitination. tonight, i did 45 tops, [...]

new experiences

today, i am going to venture out in the snow to go see Instructions for Forgetting at the Southern Theater, yes, this is a bold move for wondergirl. not something i’d ever dream of doing in a million years, because i’m lazy like that. but the TTHM suggested we go and well, i guess i [...]

home in one piece

i work in one of the swankiest suburbs of the twin cities. you think they’d be able to afford a damn snow plow. we’ve gotten something like 9 inches of snow so far today and not a flake of it has been pushed off the roads in eden prairie. so i decided to stay super [...]

snow and sweetness

i’m home now, gathering up the last minute odds and ends. as i was leaving work, the bossman said, “be careful, it’s slick out there. we need you to come back in one piece.”
i wanted to cry. not only because it’s such a sweet thing to say, but because i don’t think it’s ever going [...]
